About the Author

Cassandra Clare lives in Brooklyn. She has worked as an entertainment journalist for The Hollywood Reporter, has published several short stories and is the author of the popular internet parody The Very Secret Diaries.

City of Bones (Mortal Instruments

Sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is an ordinary teenager, who likes hanging out in Brooklyn with her friends. But everything changes the night she witnesses a murder, committed by a group of teens armed with medieval weaponry. The murderous group are Shadowhunters, secret warriors dedicated to driving demons out of this dimension and back into their own. Drawn inexorably into a terrifying world, Clary slowly begins to learn the truth about her family - and the battle for the fate of the world.

My Review

I loved the fact that  Clary  was all in the dark until she witnessed the murder and she could have stayed like it if she hadn't had seen what she saw. unaware that her friend was not seeing what she was seeing she carried on to believe her eyes and not her friends opinion, Then when her mother disappears, and she finds a Creature in her house, Clary is thrown into a unknown world of demons and Shadow Hunters. Everything she thought she knows is turned upside down. Clary finds out that she is more than just an average girl, and if falling for the boy who she saw do the killing but why is there a unknown connection between them? there is a lot of action in this book and it really has you sitting on the edge of your seat/bed. I couldn't wait to read the next book. An easy read.
looking forward for the film to come out in Aug 2013 I have to say that the book is far better than the film I felt the film was too short it was all over too quickly.

 City of Ashes (Mortal Instruments)

With her mother in a coma and her father hell-bent on destroying the world, Clary is dragged deeper into New York’s terrifying underworld of werewolves, demons and the mysterious Shadow hunters. Discovering the truth about her past was only the beginning, now Clary must save the world from her own father – the rogue Shadow hunter Valentine. With two of the Mortal Instruments at his command, Valentine is assembling an army of demons to wage war on the council of Shadow hunters and destroy them once and for all. As the battle begins, Clary must face her darkest fears – and come to terms with her feelings for a boy she wishes wasn’t her brother.

My Review

Having learn the truth of her heritage, and that the boy she's fallen for is her brother, . Her mom is in a coma with little chance of recovery, her best friend wants more than she can give, her brother is going is loosing control  after learning the truth about his heritage and only Clary may be the only one who can help him. I could not put it down also you get to see what a lot of the characters are thinking and feeling and not just Clary as the first book was about Clary . I love the continuation of the book takes you straight from the 1st book and not into a new character. Really enjoyed this book and its one of these books where you can escape your reality and fall into the book. Even though the book is aimed at teenagers its a good read and looking forward to reading the rest in the series

City of Glass: Mortal Instruments, Book 3 (The Mortal Instruments)

Amid the chaos of war, the Shadow hunters must decide to fight with the vampires, werewolves and other Down worlders - or against them. Meanwhile, Jace and Clary have their own decision to make: should they pursue the love they know is forbidden?

My Review

I liked the  characters were mysterious and I wanted to know more about them.I want Clary and Jace to not be related! Clary new power is her being capable of creating new runes which can be applied to shadow hunters or whenever the situation arises; likewise Jace has some ridiculously impressive capabilities himself. there are lots of twists that are totally unexpected. The book kept me guessing right until the end. I loved that nothing was black and white, as in life , with everything was and  Valentine being given some goodness. There was, loads of action and intense emotion. I loved it.  This was another one u couldn't put down I had to know what happened next an it explains a lot about what valentine did to Johnathon and Jace and why Clary is capable of the things she can do. A good read.

The Mortal Instruments 4: City of Fallen Angels

The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She's training to become a Shadowhunter and - most importantly of all - she can finally call Jace her boyfriend. But nothing comes without a price. Someone is murdering the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine's Circle, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second, bloody war. And when Jace begins to pull away from her without explaining why, Clary is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: she herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.

My Review

Clary and the gang are back in New York and she has started her training as shadowhunter and also having a relationship with Jace. Simon on the other hand has found himself in an awkward situation dating both Isabelle and Maia. A new enemy has arrived and Jace is in the center of it all. Simon comes to terms with himself being a vampire and the decision he has to make to stay in shadow hunter world or his own vampire world. It's a story of recognizing who you really are and make peace with it. It's also good to see Alec and Magnus becoming a serious item. Another brilliant step of Jace, Clary and Simon. The storyline brims over with action, suspense & superb characterisation.Of course things couldn't run smoothly for Jace and Clary, that would be too easy and so it certainly doesn't! More sinister deeds, demonic behavior and blood-chilling activity in this fourth installment   It was so good I never expected it to end the way I did. This book is much darker than the first three. There are certain scenes that are... well, not scary exactly, but certainly make you shudder.

Mortal Instruments 5: City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments)

Clary and the Shadow hunters struggle to piece together their shattered world after a betrayal by one of their own leaves them reeling.

My Review

In this book Lilith, the demon has been destroyed and Jace and Sebastian are missing. Clary, not getting any help from the Clave, decides to go out and find them herself. Alec, Simon and Isabelle tag along, of course When Clary and Jace meet she feels that he's changed. Hanging around her evil brother, Sebastian, has made Jace into a different person. He's acting like him and Sebastian are close friends, and that he actually likes him. They soon find out that Jace has been bound to Sebastian, and killing one of them would kill the other as well. Since the Clave is determined to destroy Sebastian, Clary and her friends must find a way to save Jace.I loved the chemistry between Clary and Jace, again! . Clary believed that Jace could be saved, it was kind of heartbreaking. But I loved how Isabelle, Alec, Magnus and Simon got involved. I had missed Magnus. I loved how Cassandra focused a lot on Isabelle and Simon's relationship as well. Loved the way that the romance in this all connects and comes together despite there obstacles. Looking farward to book 6.
