Stephenie Meyer

About the Author

Stephenie Meyer graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor's degree in English. She lives with her husband and three young sons in Phoenix, Arizona. After the publication of her first novel, Twilight, booksellers chose Stephenie Meyer as one of the "most promising new authors of 2005" (Publishers Weekly). Stephenie Meyer's life changed dramatically on June 2, 2003. The stay-at-home mother of three young sons woke up from a dream featuring seemingly real characters that she could not get out of her head.
"Though I had a million things to do, I stayed in bed, thinking about the dream. Unwillingly, I eventually got up and did the immediate necessities, and then put everything that I possibly could on the back burner and sat down at the computer to write—something I hadn't done in so long that I wondered why I was bothering."Meyer invented the plot during the day through swim lessons and potty training, and wrote it out late at night when the house was quiet. Three months later she finished her first novel, Twilight. With encouragement from her older sister (the only other person who knew she had written a book), Meyer submitted her manuscript to various literary agencies. Twilight was picked out of a slush pile at Writer's House and eventually made its way to the publishing company Little, Brown where everyone fell immediately in love with the gripping, star-crossed lovers.
Twilight was one of 2005's most talked about novels and within weeks of its release the book debuted at #5 on The New York Times bestseller list. Among its many accolades, Twilight was named an "ALA Top Ten Books for Young Adults," an Amazon.com "Best Book of the Decade...So Far", and a Publishers Weekly Best Book of the Year. The highly-anticipated sequel, New Moon, was released in September 2006, and spent more than 25 weeks at the #1 position on The New York Times bestseller list.In 2007, Eclipse literally landed around the world and fans made the Twilight Saga a worldwide phenomenon! With midnight parties and vampire-themed proms the enthusiasm for the series continued to grow.
On May 6, 2008, Little, Brown and Company released The Host, Meyer's highly-anticipated novel for adults which debuted at #1 on The New York Times and Wall Street Journal bestseller lists. The Host still remains a staple on the bestseller lists more than a year after its debut. On August 2, 2008, the final book in the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn was released at 12:01 midnight. Stephenie made another appearance on "Good Morning America" and was featured in many national media outlets, including Entertainment Weekly, Newsweek, People Magazine and Variety. Stephenie headlined the Breaking Dawn Concert Series with Justin Furstenfeld (lead singer of Blue October) to celebrate the release in four major markets across the US. Breaking Dawn sold 1.3 million copies in its first 24 hours. The Twilight movie, directed by Catherine Hardwicke and starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, was released on November 21, 2008. Twilight debuted at #1 at the box office with $70 million, making it the highest grossing opening weekend for a female director.Stephenie lives in Arizona with her husband and three sons.

The Host

Our world has been invaded by an unseen enemy. Humans become hosts for these invaders, their minds taken over while their bodies remain intact and continue their lives apparently unchanged. Most of humanity has succumbed. When Melanie, one of the few remaining "wild" humans is captured, she is certain it is her end. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, was warned about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the glut of senses, the too vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect: the former tenant of her body refusing to relinquish possession of her mind.Wanderer probes Melanie's thoughts, hoping to discover the whereabouts of the remaining human resistance. Instead, Melanie fills Wanderer's mind with visions of the man Melanie loves—Jared, a human who still lives in hiding. Unable to separate herself from her body's desires, Wanderer begins to yearn for a man she has been tasked with exposing. When outside forces make Wanderer and Melanie unwilling allies, they set off on a dangerous and uncertain search for the man they both love.

My Review

I really enjoyed this book the conflict between Melanie and the host and how they became the best of friends, I loved the conversations between them and the jelouse too.
I loved that they eventually shared the same gole and were able to reach it together. I saw the film too but I have to say it missed out a lot of these conversations and a lot of the action and physical harm that mel/wanda  went through. In the book (sorry for the spoiler) mel/wanda badly injured her lag and one side of her face/ cheek in the film she had a small scar just about her eye and there was no injury to her leg when kile tried to kill her.  there was a lot more interaction between wanda and Ian in the book not so much in the film and also the same with Jamie there is  a lot missed out of when she was being captured and where she was being captured was a lot smaller place compared to what it was in the film in the book she had no room to stretch out in the film there was loads of room and it was light in the book it was only darkness and blue lights. I hate it when films dont show the full story. Also in the book it shows Wanda going out on various raid it dose not show this so much in the film. In the book wanda works had to help them grow things she also teaches people about her life and the worlds she has been on and also most of the people who were listening befriended her is also dosnt show in the film about Walt and what Wanda did for him.

The Books

Ethan's Mate:
Ethan Hale is a vampire with a mission. Together with his three brothers and a few other unmated members, he fights with The Vampire Coalition to protect humans from fallen vampires. His life is fairly simple. If he has a problem...he solves it. If it's an evil problem...he kills it. But his
uncomplicated life is about to end when his mate unexpectedly calls him to her.
Brianna Cole is weak, her life force fading away. She thinks she is suffering from a rare form of leukemia. Little does she knows that her illness is much more complicated. She's dying because she has not united with her vampire mate and given him his soul that she has been guarding since birth.

 Rory's Mate:
Callie Marks never knew that when she had caught the bouquet at her best friend’s wedding…she would also meet her destiny in the same place. Rory Hale was the nicest, sweetest man she had ever met. He was also the most unattainable. Gorgeous, rich and smart, Rory would never be interested in her. He wouldn’t go for a plump, boring woman that was a chef and suffered from the rejections of her past. Who wanted a foundling that had never even known who her parents were? Little did she know…he was very interested. Unfortunately, he was also a vampire who was ruled by destiny in the mating department. His mate would not be his choice.
Rory Hale had liked Callie Marks since he had met her at his brother’s wedding. Although he couldn’t feel desire for anyone except his true mate, he and Callie had a connection. They became cautious friends and he wished he could offer her more. Underneath his confident exterior, Rory had his own insecurities, but Callie seemed to think he was special.

 Nathan's Mate:

Jewelry maker Sasha Taylor is from an old and aristocratic line of mages and expected to mate with a mage of the same background to secure a continuing pure line of little magic children. She would probably have complied with the old mage tradition had she not had one tiny problem with the plan. She had the mark of the vampire that she had hidden for years and was slotted to be a mate to one of the savage species of blood drinkers. Mage and vampires did not mix…so she kept the secret to herself and avoided a mating until she meets her mate, Nathan Hale…a vampire that saves her life. Nathan squashes every myth she has ever heard about vampires and she soon finds herself drawn to the very vampire she had fought so hard to avoid
 Liam's Mate:
Liam Hale is a vampire healer with secrets, secrets that he has kept hidden for hundreds of years from his brothers for their own protection. He's resigned to his lot in life, to work only for the benefit of his people...until he meets mage healer Regan Taylor. Regan makes Liam want more, much more than a lonely vampire healer can ever possess.

 Daric's Mate:
Prince Daric Carvillius is the twelve hundred year old Prince of the Vampire Healers, the most powerful being on earth, and very accustomed to getting his own way in every situation. When one of his healers, Liam, finds his mate after an entire millennium had passed without one healer mating, Daric is hopeful that the Carvillius Curse is finally broken; the results of a mistake he made a thousand years ago finally righted, allowing healers to find their mates. The only vampire healer he doesn’t want to see mated is himself, positive that the last thing he wants is a female he has to protect in addition to babysitting his unruly lot of vampire healers. But Daric has a destiny to fulfill, and his fate crashes into his life, literally, one snowy night in Colorado when he rescues a female human, Hannah Temple, from a blizzard

My Review

This books has a verry short story line as far an a story line goes as the title says its about them finding thier mate and dosent go into depth about her life or his but concentrates on their paring and as also said by the author it is a erotic romance. I just wish that you cauld fall in love with the charicters them selves before they meet and go on thir erotic journey together. This book reminds me of Mr greys book but with vampire twists.

My review

I really enjoyed the 1st book the physic link between the humans and the lind reminded me of another book that i have reviewed. I liked the fact that there was 4 story lines that of the ships wcps electra and the wccs argyle along with the convicts ship and als the lind pack and how all story lines come together at the end in a large battle between human and lind and the convicts and the larg. it gets a little confusing if you not really paying attention to what your reading with the two packs lind and larg as the names are quite simular. My thoughts after readiong this book is that of 3 things1, of poor tara will she get over the shock of the battle 2, will they be able to save all the females and children who have been captured and 3 how long do they have untill the battle starts again. Looking farward to reading book 2. This book is a real good read coulnt put it down.

Conflict and Courage (Planet Wolf 2)

The Planet Wolf Series: Volume 2 - The colonists and their telepathic wolfish friends have survived their first battle. Those life-bonded have dedicated their lives to the defense of the free north. The southern armies are reeling from their defeat and Aoalvaldr, the disgraced enemy commander, has vowed revenge. What dangers lurk beyond the horizon? Another battle, another war?

My Review

The second book was a little slow in the begining yet again all the different story lines of different characters kept me reading. lots of action as soon as the warning came to jim towards the end of the book. At the end of the book it leaves me wounding who are the main charicters in the next book as the ones ive come to love in the 1st and this book have either died in battle or have died of old age. This book had the happily ever after ending so now what can go wrong to upset the balance in book 3. looking farward to reading book 3 and see what main charicters there are and who there ancestors were. If you enjoyed the 1st book you will enjoy this book less action packed but just as good.

Homage and Honor (Planet Wolf 3)

Dynastical crisis looms in the Kingdom of Murdoch. The war-loving wolves of the southern continent are plotting the destruction of the free north. Four young people, life-bonded with their telepathic, northern, wolfish friends have dedicated their lives to stop them. Will the quartet make a difference? Can they?

Jesse Giles Christiansen

About the author

Jesse Giles Christiansen is an American author who writes compelling literary fiction that weaves the real with the surreal. He attended Florida State University where he received his B.A. in English literature. He wrote his first novel, "About: Journey Into The Mystic" after spending a summer in Alaska working on fishing boats. His newest novel, "Pelican Bay," focuses on a very old fisherman and the mysterious happenings linked to him surrounding a nosy, sea-battered beach town (release date: July 20th, 2013, Imajin Books). One of his literary goals is to write at least fifty novels, and he reminds himself always of something that Ray Bradbury once said: "You fail only if you stop writing."

Pelican Bay

After Ethan Hodges discovers an undersea cemetery just off the beach of Pelican Bay, South Carolina, he seeks answers from a grandfatherly fisherman named Captain Shelby. The captain wants the past to remain buried, and he warns Ethan to stay away. But Ethan doesn't listen.

Ethan's best friend and secret love interest, Morgan Olinsworth, joins in the investigation, unearthing intriguing secrets about the mysterious fisherman. When Captain Shelby is suspected of murder and disappears, a manhunt ensues, revealing a truth that unnerves everyone in Pelican Bay.

My Review

I enjoyed the book, an easy read except for the pirate talk, which I had to concentrate more on. I don't know if captain Shelby was a ghost or not but I don't think he murdered anyone. Just in the wrong place and trying to do good by helping people he could seeing as they put them selves in the path of danger at each step they took closer to the sea. What I would like to know is how did he heal Ethan and was he his ancestor and what about the graves in the sea did they disappear or were they able to find out more about the people who may have been berried there. As far as people falling on the docs due to it being slippery with seaweed im sure that a fall like that would result in broken bones or concussion and worse of all a coma but not kill them. so did the captain make it worst for them when they fell?? This book follows the main characters from beginning to end im used to two story lines at once and coming together at the end which made this book an easy read. ( thank goodness as i was reading it between feeding my 1month old at 3am) I think my mum would have enjoyed this book more than me as its got the history of the town which is what she does. would have liked to read more about what they found on the graves and what became of the people who were berried there.

Theresa K., Boston "Any parent who has ever reached his wit's end with a toddler will appreciate this terrifying story!" -- Jennifer W., Atlanta
"A nanny's worst nightmare!" -- Veronika P, Manchester, UK

My Review

This book started with a prolog that took you straight into the middle of the action. it also told you what i thought was the outcome ( ending of the book as the characters jumped off the top of the building) It wasn't so and the ending was different at 1st i thought this man is either dreaming and will wake up at the end of the book at it would be the day of his babies birth then i thought it wouldn't be that simple as i kept reading i wondered if what he was hearing and seeing in his mind then i began to believe him and wounder how many people would this baby affect after reading what she had done to her mother. it reminded me a little of the film Demon or even the horror chunky. a good read kept you guessing and wanting to read the next chapter etc. Think it should have been 1 big book not with the 2nd book starting with chapter 9.

Lust, Money & Murder - Book 1
This book begins with a young and naive Elaine Brogan as she initially pursues her dream of a career as a photo model. After becoming entangled with a sleazy modeling agency, she decides to become a Secret Service agent, struggling through the arduous training academy. After her first disastrous assignment, she is transferred to Bulgaria. There, she meets Nick LaGrange, the love of her life. "Revenge, determination and love fuel this thoroughly enjoyable fast paced thriller." - Samuele's Book Reviews. Lust, Money & Murder - Book 2 Elaine falls head over heels for Nick, but discovers he’s not exactly what he appears. Elaine is called back to Washington to lead a top secret program to develop counterfeit-proof banknotes, but soon finds herself in Russia, running from the Mafia, and eventually in the hands of Giorgio Cattoretti, a master knock-off clothing manufacturer who has now become the world’s #1 currency counterfeiter.
My Review

Elaine Brogan is a very head strong character who is determined to do the right thing the problem is that she trust people in authority that know or what she thought was more that she did educational wise. The 1st book is all about her up bringing and the battles that she has faced to get to where she is in the second book ( which i thought should be 1 book in all rather than 2 separate books as book 2 starts with chapter 19) The second book Shows her 1st year working for the fraud squad i see them where she gain experience working with overuse characters 1 in which she falls in love with but can she trust him or anyone else for that matter poor Elaine believes the people who have authority over her and gets her into a lot of trouble by the end of the book which has a nice cliff hanger you wounder has she really gone roge or is she just acting that way so that she can be safe and be able to catch the men who have got her at a latter date. Will nick come to her rescue? I really enjoyed the story line it had me gripped right for the start. looking forward to reading the 3rd book and finding out the answers to my questions.

Lust, Money & Murder - Book 3

This book is the third in a series.
Global counterfeiting mastermind Giorgio Cattoretti takes Elaine under his wing, tempting her with heady amounts of money to apply her expert knowledge to improve his nearly-perfect U.S. bills. But Elaine still loves Nick. When Nick enters the picture, it may be too late. With nowhere to run and nowhere to turn, will Elaine give in to a life of crime, or will she find the love she’s always wanted?

My Review

well my questions were answered to be given more questions. but Elaine did not turn her back on her country and just did when she could to survive and thanks to her love of her life she survived!  Elaine  went through hell and back with people betraying her left right and center it wouldn't put it passed her if she had serious trust issues! She was one of the heroes in this book and the book was really down to earth just like watching a FBI agent in a movie. very believable. A good read it was refreshing to read something that kept my interest other than a vampire /werewolf/witch/ and magic kind of books.  Mike Wells is also writing book 4,5 and 6 looking forward to them to come out! the only thing that i would have changed was to start each book with chapter 1 rather than following chapters from the previous books.

Cassandra Clare

About the Author

Cassandra Clare lives in Brooklyn. She has worked as an entertainment journalist for The Hollywood Reporter, has published several short stories and is the author of the popular internet parody The Very Secret Diaries.

City of Bones (Mortal Instruments

Sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is an ordinary teenager, who likes hanging out in Brooklyn with her friends. But everything changes the night she witnesses a murder, committed by a group of teens armed with medieval weaponry. The murderous group are Shadowhunters, secret warriors dedicated to driving demons out of this dimension and back into their own. Drawn inexorably into a terrifying world, Clary slowly begins to learn the truth about her family - and the battle for the fate of the world.

My Review

I loved the fact that  Clary  was all in the dark until she witnessed the murder and she could have stayed like it if she hadn't had seen what she saw. unaware that her friend was not seeing what she was seeing she carried on to believe her eyes and not her friends opinion, Then when her mother disappears, and she finds a Creature in her house, Clary is thrown into a unknown world of demons and Shadow Hunters. Everything she thought she knows is turned upside down. Clary finds out that she is more than just an average girl, and if falling for the boy who she saw do the killing but why is there a unknown connection between them? there is a lot of action in this book and it really has you sitting on the edge of your seat/bed. I couldn't wait to read the next book. An easy read.
looking forward for the film to come out in Aug 2013 I have to say that the book is far better than the film I felt the film was too short it was all over too quickly.

 City of Ashes (Mortal Instruments)

With her mother in a coma and her father hell-bent on destroying the world, Clary is dragged deeper into New York’s terrifying underworld of werewolves, demons and the mysterious Shadow hunters. Discovering the truth about her past was only the beginning, now Clary must save the world from her own father – the rogue Shadow hunter Valentine. With two of the Mortal Instruments at his command, Valentine is assembling an army of demons to wage war on the council of Shadow hunters and destroy them once and for all. As the battle begins, Clary must face her darkest fears – and come to terms with her feelings for a boy she wishes wasn’t her brother.

My Review

Having learn the truth of her heritage, and that the boy she's fallen for is her brother, . Her mom is in a coma with little chance of recovery, her best friend wants more than she can give, her brother is going is loosing control  after learning the truth about his heritage and only Clary may be the only one who can help him. I could not put it down also you get to see what a lot of the characters are thinking and feeling and not just Clary as the first book was about Clary . I love the continuation of the book takes you straight from the 1st book and not into a new character. Really enjoyed this book and its one of these books where you can escape your reality and fall into the book. Even though the book is aimed at teenagers its a good read and looking forward to reading the rest in the series

City of Glass: Mortal Instruments, Book 3 (The Mortal Instruments)

Amid the chaos of war, the Shadow hunters must decide to fight with the vampires, werewolves and other Down worlders - or against them. Meanwhile, Jace and Clary have their own decision to make: should they pursue the love they know is forbidden?

My Review

I liked the  characters were mysterious and I wanted to know more about them.I want Clary and Jace to not be related! Clary new power is her being capable of creating new runes which can be applied to shadow hunters or whenever the situation arises; likewise Jace has some ridiculously impressive capabilities himself. there are lots of twists that are totally unexpected. The book kept me guessing right until the end. I loved that nothing was black and white, as in life , with everything was and  Valentine being given some goodness. There was, loads of action and intense emotion. I loved it.  This was another one u couldn't put down I had to know what happened next an it explains a lot about what valentine did to Johnathon and Jace and why Clary is capable of the things she can do. A good read.

The Mortal Instruments 4: City of Fallen Angels

The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She's training to become a Shadowhunter and - most importantly of all - she can finally call Jace her boyfriend. But nothing comes without a price. Someone is murdering the Shadowhunters who used to be in Valentine's Circle, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second, bloody war. And when Jace begins to pull away from her without explaining why, Clary is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: she herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.

My Review

Clary and the gang are back in New York and she has started her training as shadowhunter and also having a relationship with Jace. Simon on the other hand has found himself in an awkward situation dating both Isabelle and Maia. A new enemy has arrived and Jace is in the center of it all. Simon comes to terms with himself being a vampire and the decision he has to make to stay in shadow hunter world or his own vampire world. It's a story of recognizing who you really are and make peace with it. It's also good to see Alec and Magnus becoming a serious item. Another brilliant step of Jace, Clary and Simon. The storyline brims over with action, suspense & superb characterisation.Of course things couldn't run smoothly for Jace and Clary, that would be too easy and so it certainly doesn't! More sinister deeds, demonic behavior and blood-chilling activity in this fourth installment   It was so good I never expected it to end the way I did. This book is much darker than the first three. There are certain scenes that are... well, not scary exactly, but certainly make you shudder.

Mortal Instruments 5: City of Lost Souls (The Mortal Instruments)

Clary and the Shadow hunters struggle to piece together their shattered world after a betrayal by one of their own leaves them reeling.

My Review

In this book Lilith, the demon has been destroyed and Jace and Sebastian are missing. Clary, not getting any help from the Clave, decides to go out and find them herself. Alec, Simon and Isabelle tag along, of course When Clary and Jace meet she feels that he's changed. Hanging around her evil brother, Sebastian, has made Jace into a different person. He's acting like him and Sebastian are close friends, and that he actually likes him. They soon find out that Jace has been bound to Sebastian, and killing one of them would kill the other as well. Since the Clave is determined to destroy Sebastian, Clary and her friends must find a way to save Jace.I loved the chemistry between Clary and Jace, again! . Clary believed that Jace could be saved, it was kind of heartbreaking. But I loved how Isabelle, Alec, Magnus and Simon got involved. I had missed Magnus. I loved how Cassandra focused a lot on Isabelle and Simon's relationship as well. Loved the way that the romance in this all connects and comes together despite there obstacles. Looking farward to book 6.
