J.R. Rain.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR

I'm an ex-private investigator now writing full-time in the Pacific Northwest, where I live in a small house on a small island with my small dog, Sadie, who has more energy than Robin Williams. I will be publishing a few of my novels over the next few years, so stop by often and check out what's new.
As a kid I was always making stuff: skates, skateboards, skimboards, skis, sleds, clothing, furniture, wood carvings, Easter baskets, comic books, you name it. I was the mother of all nerds. Anyway, I think I was searching for the one thing I wanted to keep on making for the rest of my life. Then one day I discovered Choose Your Own Adventure books. Remember those? You as the reader were asked to make choices for the characters. Choose Your Own Adventures were a lot of fun and I just had to make my own. And so I did, writing three of them, and I've been hooked on writing ever since. (Just think, I could have been hooked on making Easter baskets.)

MOON DANCE

Mother, wife, private investigator...vampire. Six years ago federal agent Samantha Moon was the perfect wife and mother, your typical soccer mom with the minivan and suburban home. Then the unthinkable happens, an attack that changes her life forever. And forever is a very long time for a vampire. Now the world at large thinks Samantha has developed a rare skin disease, a disease which forces her to quit her day job and stay out of the light of the sun. Now working the night shift as a private investigator, Samantha is hired by Kingsley Fulcrum to investigate the murder attempt on his life, a horrific scene captured on TV and seen around the country. But as the case unfolds, Samantha discovers Kingsley isn't exactly what he appears to be; after all, there is a reason why he survived five shots to the head

MY REVIEW.

This book starts off with Samantha moon already a been bitten and knowing what she is. She hides it verry well from everyone including her family, and the athorities. That is untill she meets Kingsley Which is when she finds out that there are not olnly vampires out there, there are more of her kind. so She tries to keep up her aperiences of a normal human daily life while at night she is an amazing detective.

I enjoyed  this part of the book I don't normally like detective books but the twist of samantha being a vampire gives it that excitment edge of the thought of her being found out, and that she starts investigating a atepmted murder of a non human also has you asking q's and not only you samantha dosent find out who shes working for till you get to the middle of the book.
If you enjoy reading detective books and fictional then this book has lots of twists. This book you will want to read on as her story continues in the rest of the series
.

VAMPIRE MOON

Private investigator Samantha Moon finds herself hunting down a powerful crime lord and protecting an innocent woman from her ruthless ex-husband—all while two very different men vie for her heart. And as the stakes grow higher and her cases turn personal, Samantha Moon will do whatever it takes to protect the innocent and bring two cold-blooded killers to justice—her own brand of justice.

MY REVIEW

In this book Samantha life just gets that little bit more complicated. As her client form the first book falls in love with her or does he just want her for who she is a vampire its a little up and down and Samantha herself i don't think she really knows who she loves but does lean of her 1st client for support a lot more than she does her husband. All she cares about in this book is dealing out justice and to protect this innocent woman but seeing as the courts do not know about vampire and supernatural beings she has to be the judge and jury and sentencing judge in this book. but is she doing the right thing by doing this?

I liked that her life also is in a state of change in this book as exciting as the detective part of this book is i enjoy that there are other things going on i think if it was just about her job this book i would have put down by the time i read the 2nd chapter but i love there there are more than just one story line and life out of work is conveyed in the book. This book had me wanting to know what happened did she chose her husband or the supernatural being . has anyone found out about her being a vampire and how is she coping with being one
.

And as she gets closer and closer to the horrible truth, she receives devastating news on the home front. Now with her world turned upside down, Samantha Moon is forced to make the ultimate choice of life and death.

 MOON CHILD

Private investigator Samantha Moon is faced with an impossible decision—a decision that no mother should ever have to make. A decision that will change her life, and those she loves, forever. And through it all, Sam finds herself in a lethal game of vampire vs. vampire as a powerful—and desperate—enemy will stop at nothing to claim what he most desires

MY REVIEW

Now getting to grips with her abilities of being a vampire and he friendship with her 1st client she becomes a really good detective. on the other hand her personal life as a wife and mother are on the rocks but she puts up a really good fight to keep those she loves close to her especially  her child.

I enjoyed this book as her personal life gets more out of control as She has had to move out due to her husband finding out about what she really is and all he thinks about it is she goign to bite her child and him, im sure if she was goign to do that she would have done it soon after she was bitten not a year down the line. her husband becames a right pain in the butt in this book and i think makes more worries and truoble for her but thankgoodness she had her work to fall back on and her faithfull friend.

 Book 1 - Promise

After meeting the inhumanly attractive, multi-talented Tristan Knight, however, Alexis retreats behind her façade of normalcy...until she discovers he's not exactly normal either. Then their secrets begin to unravel.

Their union brings hope and promise to her family's secret society, the Angels' army, and to the future of mankind. But it also incites a dangerous pursuit by the enemy - Satan's minions and Tristan's creators. After all, Alexis and Tristan are a match made in Heaven and in Hell.

MY REVIEW

I enjoyed this book a typical teenager falling for a  bad boy and someone that her mum dose not want her any where near but the twist is the family life long secret and what it would mean and cause if they got it together and if they hit it  off, what is the secret that her mum against all odds trying to keep from her daughter? it kept me reading as i wanted to know why her mum was so mysterious and who were the characters that kept attacking her and why. was she just being bullied by people in school or where they of another world?

From the word go this book was mysterious and i could not put it down there was something about Alexis Ames that i wanted to know, would she be safe would she find out about her family secret,  would she fall for this bad boy on the motorbike. This book was set in a typical america school just like you see with the chick flicks. It was down to earth even though it was a fiction book and had fiction characters but characters that you could bond with and want to find out more about them the more you read.

 Book 2 - Purpose

Lost in despair, Alexis teeters on the edge of an abyss, her lifeline of hope fraying into a thin thread. If it snaps, she'll plunge into complete darkness. With the help of her son and her writing, she's been able to hold on. Until now. Erratic impulses, disturbing delusions and her own demonic blood threaten her sanity. When she's forced to choose between hanging onto hope or letting go to serve her Amadis purposes, she faces a decision with inconceivable sacrifices.

Alexis runs to the one place she thinks will provide answers, only to find herself at the center of another battle of good versus evil, not only with the Daemoni, not only within herself...but also against the worst opponent imaginable. But even if she wins, what will she lose?

MY REVIEW

Alexis is a very strong character she held on even though she thought all hope was gone with her son by her side and nothing else to loos she plodded on wards no matter how she felt her son brought out the best in her and you find in life that its our children who are the ones that we wake up each morning for who we fight and strive to make the best of things no matter how hard things get and this is what Alexis did along with her Amadis purposes she shows how strong and determined her character is. Reminds me of me a little getting through things because you have other people to think of and having a goal in life and determined to reach it no matter how hard or how much your hurting.

If you enjoyed the promise you will love the rest of the book in the  Soul Savers Series Keeps you wanting more and hanging on to what happens to Alexis and her son. Just like watching a movie you want to make sure that they will be victorious and safe but is she love these books!

 Book 3 - Devotion

With powerful abilities gained from the Ang'dora, Alexis thinks she's ready for the next challenge-- protecting her son from what appears to be the inevitable. But she has so much to learn about her powers, her new world and the people in it. Nothing is what it seems to be on the surface, including the Amadis.

Power-hungry politicians comprise the council and make impossible demands. A traitor lurks among them all, inciting trouble that could destroy the Amadis and, ultimately, humanity. The Daemoni wreak havoc in the human world, with the ultimatum that they'll continue attacking innocents until Alexis and her family are expelled from the Amadis' protection. Their own society begins to shut them out. But that's not all.

MY REVIEW

This book was action packed from deception to hidden secrets and powers to family history the book refers to the Genesis a soul savers Novella and if you haven't read it that it gets a little clouded with what has gone on in the past with who is who in her family. Alexis dose not know who to trust and sometimes in life they say keep your friends close and your enemies closer well i don't think that Alexis had much choice  in this book seeing as all hell broke loose in her collective family let alone what was going on outside the Amadis. Sometimes life becomes like this not really knowing who are real friends are and sometimes its best just to ride it out until that decision is made for you or you are forced to decide as Alexis found out which of those she was going to do.

I loved finding out what was happening to Alexis and her son and i knew from previous books that she had to wait until the Ang'dora to have her powers and i wanted to know what powers she possessed. if you love action and adventure this book has it along with a brill story line

Book 4 -  Bonus - Genesis: A Soul Savers Novella

While the land of Ancient Greece is plagued with mortals' wars, twins Cassandra and Jordan have lived more than a lifetime as outcasts. When their dying father divulges a secret that's been buried in his soul, his children come to opposite conclusions, launching them down two very different paths.

Jordan descends down a road of darkness and discovers the Daemoni, servants to Satan. His passion to gain their inhuman abilities, especially that of immortality, nearly consumes him, but when he thinks he's achieved his ultimate goal, he yearns for his sister to share in his power.

Cassandra, however, follows the path of healing and light. She cares for the wounded and dying on the battlefields, while praying for the end to such atrocities. But her brother is determined to bring her into the war of all ages - the one for human souls.

MY REVIEW

This book was obviously set in the past, I wish that I had read this book before the 1st in the soul savers series as this is the ground and history of the Amadis where it all started. This book is just as good as all the other books but dates back to all the wars. you can see now from this book how the Daemoni started and there history with the Amadis.

I loved this book and in parts are sad but if not for the sad scenes there would not be a Amadis.

I would recommend that you read this book before the others but thats my opinion some like reading it when it is mentioned in Devotion. If you love this book or have read other soul saver books you going to love this one!

Book 5 - Power

As the Amadis prepare for war, Alexis returns to Florida with orders to relax, regenerate and replenish her depleted power. But her task list quickly grows--establish a new safe house, learn the art of conversion, find her AWOL protector, help a desperate fan, and protect her son. Oh, and figure out what's going on with her husband, whose peculiar behavior just might get them killed.

But most important of all, her primary mission: recover her stolen pendant.

The stone in the pendant not only promises hope for the Amadis future, but its unknown qualities make it a possible weapon in the wrong hands. With guidance and power from an improbable source and an unlikely ally by her side, Alexis sets out to retrieve the stone before the enemy discovers its potential for mass destruction. But when she finds herself in the Daemoni's lair fighting for her life, all hope seems lost. Will she discover the true power she holds in time? And is it enough to save herself, her family and the Amadis?

MY REVIEW

I enjoyed this book but found Alexis consumed with the thought and determination to get the pendant back in her possession. A lot depends on this pendant or did it, has she always had the power within her did she really need the pendant untill you get halfway through his book then it tells you why this pendant is so important and it keeps you reading to find out the significance of the pendant. Alexis struggles in this book but like any mother pulls through for her son as much as she us able with everything else that goes on. She is such a strong charicter the sheer determination to do the right thing by her child, husband and the Amadis.

This book will keep you wanting more and on the edge of your seat. This is a must read if you have read the past soul saver books.

Book 6 - wrath

Will a mother’s wrath make her cross the line? I didn’t want to cry. For once in my life, tears evaded me. Perhaps because I refused to grieve this loss, because it wasn’t a loss in my eyes, in my heart. It was a call for war, yes. But not a loss. I wouldn’t allow it. Besides, I was too mad to cry, even in my exhaustion, and anger would get me much further. As I curled my body around Sasha’s, though, I realized the anger within me had changed. I no longer felt irrational and blinding fury that dulled all other emotions. But that was okay. I really didn’t want to be Psycho Alexis. This, what I now felt in every cell of my body down to the core, was better. My anger had condensed and solidified into a cold, hard stone settling within me. Something I could control and hold onto for the long term to keep me going and focused on the goal. Wrath. That’s what I felt. And there was nothing worse than the wrath of a pissed-off mother.

My Review

Yet again I loved the book ( cant wait until the next one comes out hopefully another one is coming soon) I loved the close net of the family no matter what happened even though their task seemed different they all wanted the same thing deep down and what parent dose / will not fight for their children. I loved the connection that Alexis had with her son especially when it was needed the most and the twist that her protector didn't abandon them it turned out that his task was to protect Alexis son after all Im so glad that he was on her side all this time I really liked his character and was really sad to find out that he might have switched sides. This book made me cry as with all the other books poor Alexis loosing her grandmother and her mum in the same day / battle. I couldn't even begin to imagine how that felt i would be beside my self if anything happened to my mum. A brill book Would recommend the series to everyone.

MY REVIEW

The characters in this book were as confused as the reader. you could understand what was going on in there lives but didn't or couldn't understand why things were happening to them and as it shows from past characters the same was happening to them but why and how were the present characters and past characters related or linked some how. This book kept you gessing right until the last few chapters, where it revels how these characters are connected with past characters. This book kept me guessing. I love the connection that pulled the charicters together and the bond they had even if they didn't know why they felt that way about each other the way they did. I cant really say too much more about why I like this book as it will give the plot away.

If you liked the soul saver books you will like this one and get you asking questions to the author like when is book 2 coming out.
